I want my, I want my MTV...

Remember a time when there was videos on MTV and VH1? Now occasionally there are a few on...in the middle of the night--or a lame early Sunday morning countdown. Blech. But with the internet--alas, there are still videos being produced--and good ones...
If I were a VJ, this would be my line up.

The Black Keys "Tighten Up". Young love on the playground.

Best Coast "When I'm With You". True love with Ronald McDonald.

Local Natives "World News". A day at the beach with dog agility and a young Asian boy calling the shots. Lip-syncing children are very in.

Robyn "Dancing On My Own". The Swedish songstress stalks her ex- and busts out her version of the fist pump.

The National "Bloodbuzz Ohio". The rest of the band leave Matt Berninger alone to sort out his issues.

"Money for nothing and your chicks for free...."

I need a camera... to my eye...

My husband is very talented... and very smart. He did not go in with the tigers while shooting this story and came home with all his limbs intact. Good man. Watch his story here!

He's telling Matt---don't make me look bad or I'll bite your face off.

....swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue.

So all Lost fans had a long Monday after staying up late watching the 2 1/2 hour series finale! I think it left way too many things undone and then just wrapped it up. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it... a little mad that there were still a lot of questions they NEVER answered. Oh well. (what a nerd, I know!)
The final Videogum recap is an excellent way to re-hash it all... au revoir, Lost!

Vincent the dog **had a major role in the end. Yes, the dog.

Born in the U.S.A.

** Super-double post Monday**

Tuesday is Primary Election day in Kentucky!!! I'm reminding all you Louisvillians to do your civic duty and VOTE!!!

Just in case you aren't feeling it, here's a rousing John Philip Sousa march to get you in the patriotic spirit.

**french horn blast** (fade to black)

Tuesday will be the last new Lost before the 2 1/2 hour finale on Sunday night. (Reed and I are already planning a nerd-ly brother/sister finale "party". I tried to think of Lost themed food to serve... he suggested wild boar.)

To recap last week's episode, read this!
(Matt brilliantly told to me to check it out. I will give credit where credit is due.)

It's a link to a write up on Videogum that seems to capture the essence of what is really going on. I laughed out loud reading it.

**No song comes to mind to title this post, so I'll go with a traditional Lost noise. Just imagine a loud, ominous french horn blast, then a commercial break.**

We are family...

The same weekend we were in Indy to see Pearl Jam, we also got to have some family bonding time. It was great seeing everyone including the most adorable nephew in the world, Blake!

Uncle Matt & Blake

Aunt Lindsay & Blake
(why does he look uncertain of my baby handling skills?)

Sporting his tiny Notre Dame hat!

He's mocking us with his laughter.
Of course, we were all acting like fools to crack him up!

Live on coffee and flowers, try not to worry what the weather will be...

This will be random post Wednesday! A compilation of little things that are making me happy....

1) Frozen Yogurt Pie

Yum! I make this all summer. Easy, easy!

1 8oz container of yogurt (any flavor--I recommend strawberry)
1 16oz. (?) container low-fat cool whip (the usual size tub you would buy)
Low-fat graham cracker crust

Mix the ingredients, dump in the crust, freeze for a few hours.
Voila! Tasty, refreshing, fairly good-for-you treat :)

2) The National
     High Violet
Just came out this week. Can't. stop. playing it. Fantastic sound, amazing lyrics. Buy it!
Most played track: Conversation 16 (as quoted in title post)

3) The June issue of Vanity Fair
So I open my mailbox today... and yowza... wait a minute Mr. Postman!

I feel a sudden interest in soccer coming on...If a picture isn't worth a thousand words.. how about a video?

I just want to scream...helloooo!!

Pre-Pearl Jam/Post Rain self-portrait

Friday night we had Englishpalooza concert #6--Pearl Jam & Band of Horses in Indianapolis. Of course, after a week of beautiful weather, Friday night it was cloudy, windy, cold and a little rainy. But nothing a giant valu-can of Coors Light couldn't help!

Matt models his awesome "of age hand stamp" & a ridiculously large can of Coors Light
(Coors must be a venue sponsor. Conveniently, they provided adult beverages and a giant inflatable can that was a good meeting location landmark.)

We had a brief delay, under the threat of lightening and alleged tornado watches, but no matter. The opening group, Band of Horses, which I really wanted to hear, came out before we got to our seats so we only heard them from afar. That was a little disappointing.

After hanging for awhile, we split up from our much more devoted friends and my cousin --who had seats through the Ten Club up under the pavilion-- and headed to the lawn. There we all stood shoulder to shoulder, a little wilted, a little damp, a lot wind blown. But hey, when you can sing at the top of your lungs with 20,000 or so of your closest friends...with Eddie Vedder not too far away... to me, that's a good night.

Here's a decent fan video of Eddie singing Goin' Back to Indiana, a Jackson 5 cover. I like to think he was singing it to me.

Check out the set list & a slide show here.

P.S. We highly recommend Old Navy's Jacket in a Packet .

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues...

I believe summertime calls for some red shoes. I've been scouting around and I'm longing to get a few on my feet...

Model Agyness Deyn sporting some red TOMS canvas shoes

I saw this photo in Lucky magazine of Agyness Deyn (who has great personal style, but maybe not so much with these pocket-showing Daisy Dukes?) They fall in the category of ugly/cute and are a hint of that nautical trend happening now. Ahoy!

And they are cheap, $44. Nice. The bonus: guilt free shopping.  For every pair you buy, TOMS gives a pair of new shoes to a kid in need.

(It seems everyone else is after these.. because they are now out of my size. A google search is in order! )

Oohh.. next red shoe of choice. Espadrille wedge sandals from Marais USA. So retro. So breezy & summer-y! I saw these in the New York Times Style section. They best not run out of my size in these too!

After purchasing said red shoes, I shall crank up the David Bowie**.

** I refuse to acknowledge that this song was used to promote Dancing With the Stars.

It's such a feeling that my love, I can't hide... I can't hide...

My friend used to have this picture posted up over her desk in college. She said she had it there because Orville just looked so happy. I don't know why I thought of this today, but I love it. Look at him. We should all feel that good. :)

My "happiness" picture is the Beatles at the George V. (I have it posted on the side of the blog there.)  They just found out I Wanna Hold Your Hand was #1 in America...and that they were going to be on The Ed Sullivan Show. That's a way to celebrate good news! (and apparently it was late and they had been drinking so that helps too. )
